Best time to travel: Year-round. From October to April, tropical temperatures around 30°C (86°F) prevail in Rio and the south. During our summer months, the northern beaches between Salvador da Bahia and Fortaleza are a good choice. If you want to travel to the Amazon region, the months of May to October are recommended.

Safety: I mostly traveled on foot in Rio and never felt unsafe. Simply avoid dark, unlit areas and areas with high crime rates, and leave your jewelry and

valuables at the hotel. I only carried the cash I absolutely needed.
